Bunker Delivery Notes – Information

Notice to: Ship Owners / Managers/ Operators / Surveyors / Auditors :

This Circular is issued to advise that Resolution MEPC.362(79) , adopted on 16th December 2022, amended MARPOL Annex VI, Appendix V, Regulation 18.5 – Information to be included in the bunker delivery note. These amendments will enter into force from 01 May 2024.

Specifically, a new item 9 was added to the Convention which requires the Bunker Delivery Note to include:

“The flashpoint (ºC) specified in accordance with standards acceptable to the Organization, or a statement that the flashpoint has been measured at or above 70ºC.”

A footnote to this item further states:

“ISO 2719:2016, Determination of flash point – Pensky-Martens closed cup method, Procedure A (for Distillate Fuels) or Procedure B (for Residual Fuels).”

Ship Owners / Managers / Operators/ Surveyors/ Auditors should be guided accordingly and ensure that received Bunker Delivery Notes contain the necessary information.
