Barbados Maritime Ship Registry – BWM Convention.

The Barbados Maritime Ship Registry (BMSR) has issued Bulletin 032 – Ballast Water Management, the Bulletin provides the requirements for implementing the BWM Convention for Barbados-flagged vessels and covers the following topics:
- Purpose
- Application

- Standard D2 – IMO and BMSR deadlines
- Exceptions and Exemptions
- BWMS initial commissioning and testing
- BWMS Failures
- Ballast Water Record Book
The Bulletin supersedes bulletins 272, 274, and 347.
Key points to note include:
Deadlines :
- By 08 September 2024 all vessels must comply with Standard D2.
- The BMSR will only issue a permit for an extension of compliance with Standard D2 until the 8th of August 2024. However, vessels with an IBWMC renewal after 08 August but before 08 September are not subject to this.
Ballast Water Record Books:
- Ballast Water Record Books (BWRB) can be bought from the BMSR Ship Document Online Form.
- The BMSR BWRB first revision will remain valid until the 01 February 2025.
- The new revision of the BMSR BWRB includes examples of Ballast Water Record Book entries to help officers correctly populate the entries
