Vanuatu – Pre-Arrival Checklists

C25018 | 27 March 2025

Notice to: Ship Owners / Managers/ Operators / Auditors :

The Vanuatu Maritime Administration (VLAS) has published Fleet Safety Letter (FSL) 012525.GEN, which includes an updated pre-arrival checklist to be used by all owners, operators, and masters for all vessels arriving in the Paris MOU, United States, and/or the Tokyo MOU ports.

The checklist is to be submitted, no less than 48 hours before the vessel’s arrival, to the following email address: info@register-vu.com.

The Fleet Safety Letter (FSL) advises that Port State Control (PSC) regimes worldwide are increasingly focusing on fire and abandon-ship drills, as well as voyage planning during their inspections and urges owners/operators to ensure that weekly drills involve different scenarios each week to enhance the crew’s familiarity with the necessary procedures for fighting fires in various areas of the vessel, as well as the proper use of different equipment.

Vessels not in compliance with the FSL’s requirements will face the applicable penalties as outlined in Circulars 0010 and 0011 (refer to DBS Circular C25017).

The FSL notes that in certain cases, penalties may extend beyond the owner/operator and may include actions such as the cancellation of the vessel’s master’s endorsement.

For any inquiries or assistance, VLAS can be contacted at info@register-vu.com.
