Reminder of the Amendments to the Onboard Sampling Points

With this circular, DBS aims to raise awareness to all interested parties in regard to the amendments to the onboard sampling points (sulphur content of fuel oil), that came into force on April 1st, 2022, and particularly the amendments that are to come in force on April 1st, 2023.

Emphasis to be given on the following points:

  • For ships the keel of which was laid, or which were at a similar stage of construction before April 1st, 2022, fuel sampling points need to be designated on the first IAPP renewal survey carried out on or after April 1st, 2023.

 

Refer to MEPC.324(75) that details all the amendments in full and the relevant dates, and the older circular issued by DBS, dated October 21st, 2021, C21035.

Act now

Ship Owners/ Managers/ Operators should take into consideration the above amendments for the on-board sampling of fuel oil coming into force on April 1st, 2023.

Surveyors should verify compliance on the first IAPP renewal survey carried out on or after April 1st, 2023, as applicable.
