Enhanced PSC Checks on Ship-specific plans for enclosed space entry

Notice to: Ship Owners / Managers/ Operators / Surveyors

This circular is issued to advise that during recent PSC Inspections in Northern Europe, an intensified focus on Ship-Specific Plans for Enclosed Space Entry and Rescue Operations has been apparent.

The Inspections have focused on:

  • Verifying the ship-specific enclosed space plans.
  • Checking compliance with safety procedures.
  • Evaluating crew training and readiness for enclosed space entry and rescue operations.
  • Checking the maintenance and functionality of associated equipment.

 

IMO Resolution A.1050(27), details guidelines for ensuring the safety of personnel entering enclosed spaces on board.

Act now

To avoid delays, detentions, or other enforcement actions arising from PSC inspections, Ship Managers and Masters should:

  • Ensure all Ship-Specific Plans for Enclosed Spaces are updated and compliant with the IMO guidelines.
  • Conduct regular Enclosed Space drills and training sessions.
  • Ensure all equipment related to enclosed space safety is maintained in good working order.
