NISHI-F LIFEBOAT – NOTICE REGARDING INSUFFICIENT PASSAGE WIDTH

Notice to: Ship Owners / Managers / Operators

Nishi-F Co., Ltd. has issued a notice concerning insufficient passage width identified in certain lifeboats manufactured by the company.

Affected Products, Description & Corrective Measures

Affected Product: Free-Fall Lifeboat FF-65 (25 persons)
Manufacturing Period: From October 2010

Certain lifeboats have been identified with an internal passage width below the required 480 mm standard.

The required width can be restored by adjusting the seat position and angle using adjustment brackets. The corrective method has been approved by ClassNK (Nippon Kaiji Kyokai).

A seat adjuster set, and instructions will be provided. Customers are requested to complete and return the Confirmation Form to Nishi-F Co., Ltd.

Due to the number of affected lifeboats worldwide, corrective work may take time. Where necessary, crew may carry out the adjustment in accordance with the instructions, with verification by certified service personnel during the annual inspection.

Act now

Ship Owners / Managers / Operators of affected non-complying lifeboats are requested to contact the manufacturer at nfas@nishi-f.com and arrange the necessary corrective action as applicable. The Flag Administration should be contacted as well with a view to issuing the necessary dispensation letter.
