International Ballast Water Management Convention, D-2 Standard

Notice to: Ship Owners / Managers/ Operators /Surveyors/ Auditors :

This Circular is issued to advise that the final date for compliance with the D-2 standard (installation of Ballast Water Management System) of the “International Convention for the Control and Management of Ship’s Ballast Water and Sediments, 2004” is 08 September 2024. This includes vessels of less than 400 GT and Oil Tankers of less than 150 GT constructed before 08 September 2017.

Several Flag Administrations have already warned that no extensions will be granted beyond this final date (08 September 2024).

Act now

Ship Owners/Managers of vessels to which the IBWM Convention applies are urged to be guided by the above and ensure compliance on time.
