Zanzibar – Notification for Audit / Survey

Notice to: Ship Owners / Managers / Operators / Surveyors / Auditors

The Zanzibar Maritime Authority has issued Circular No. FSI/16/2025 advising the procedures to be followed for Survey/Audit attendance by ROs, RSOs and Classification Societies for any Tanzania Zanzibar International Register of Shipping (TZIRS) flagged vessels.

The Circular applies to all approved ROs, RSOs and Classification Societies, and all surveys/audits required to be carried out, including those previously approved on a case-by-case basis.

The Circular enters into force on 15 December 2025.

Points to Note

ROs, RSOs and Classification Societies are to send a notification email to technical@zma.go.tz no later than three (3) days before the attendance date advising the following:

• Section I: vessel location and Surveyor Details:

      •Ship name
      • IMO No/ID
      • Country of survey/audit
      •Port of survey/audit
      •Date of survey/audit
      •Attending surveyor’s name
      • Attending surveyor’s mobile number

• Section II: Manager Details

      • Managing company’s name
      • IMO No/ID
      • DPA name
      • DPA mobile no.

• Section III: Type and Scope of Survey/Audit

      • Survey/audit type
      • Survey/audit scope
      • Certificate

Act now

Ship Owners / Managers / Operators / Surveyors / Auditors of TZIRS-flagged vessels should review the contents of the Circular and be guided accordingly.
